ABOUT THE AUTHOR: Michael Warth was born in Reading in 1953 and after leaving school in 1971 completed teacher training at Milton Keynes College of Education. After a short period teaching in his home town, he took up a post at High Ash School in Great Brickhill, Buckinghamshire and his interest in local history led to the publication of his first book entitled 'Great Brickhill in the Mid 1860's'.
In 1984 Michael moved to Overstone School in Wing, eventually becoming Deputy headteacher, a position he still holds today.

Curiosity about a group of dilapidated buildings in fields near the village led to some local research which developed further as contact was made with former personnel who had been at RAF Wing during its relatively short existence. It soon became apparent that here was a story worth telling, of an establishment largely forgotten, which touched the lives of hundreds of men and women.

Michael now lives in Heath and Reach. Bedfordshire with his wife Julie and children Emily. Edward and Jonathan.
