This picture of Wing Church Choir came to light recently when the Vestry was cleared prior to building work. It is thought to date from the early 1900s when the the Vicar was the Rev Tatham. It was taken outside the Vicarage when that was the large old building next to the Church at the end of Vicarage Lane. If anyone knows more details of the people involved do get in touch!
Here is a response - my apologies for only putting it on the notice board and not on this page earlier in the year
In response to your request for details concerning the members of the choir photographed circa 1900, my grandmother, Lizzie Corkett(nee Gardner) is the sixth from the left in the third row from the front. She was married aged 24 to Arthur Corkett in December 1899. They had three children: Frederick Arthur born in October 1900, Annie Elizabeth born in May 1904 and Cecil Harry born in September 1910 (my father), who is third from the left on the back row of Jill Parson's photograph of Wing choir. He looks as if he is in early twenties. As I cannot see my grandmother on the photograph I presume that it was taken sometime after her death in June 1931 aged 55. My father subsequently trained as a priest and was vicar of Whitechapel church in Cleckheaton, West Yorkshire, from 1943 to 1980. He died in April 1998 aged 87. Regards Richard Corkett
