Elizabeth Denchfield (new February 2002) 'Elizabeth Denchfield' was born in Wing abt. 1864. I think her father 'George Denchfield' was a wheelwright

D Pantling

Picture shows l-r Alice, Eric, Winnie and John Pantling

John was the Village Postman for many years around the 1920's. Eric kept the garage at Wing for most of the 1920-30s and became a War Reserve Policeman during the Second World War. Winnie married Vernon Denchfield who was a carpenter on the Ascott estate.

D1: George Denchfield born 18 may 1792, died 26 Sep 1877; married Sarah Kates of Aylesbury (died 10 Jan 1878) - had 10 children: Matthew, b1814; Robert, b1816; Thomas, b1819; George and Mary (twins) b1824: Levi and Lot (twins) b1828; Jesse b1831; Seth b 1832; Eli b 1836.

D2 Seth Denchfield; born 19 Sep 1832, died 19th Oct 1908, married Ann Gates (aged 26 on the 1861 census). Had 6 hildren: Peninnah Sarah and Robert (twins), b1857; Eli Thomas, b1861; Charles Gates b1864; Alvert Edward b 1870; Ernest b1871

Seth was a wheelwright -pictured on his steam engine (used to power the threshing machines on local farms) in his yard off the Leighton Road around 1905. Picture shows his Son, Ernest (by the rear wheel) and grandson Sidney (on back in a sailor's suit) with also Dr Chignall's children. Seth was also recorded in 1899 Kelly's Directory of Buckinghamshire as a carpenter, joiner, undertaker, timber dealer, sawmills and general contractor as well as a Steam Threshing Machine owner.

D3: Ernest Denchfield; born 1871, died 17 Jan 1944 aged 72, married Annie Jordan of Wing, (died 19 Mar 1958 aged 85), both are buried in Wing Churchyard. Pictured here c 1935 for a Wedding Anniversary together in Mr and Mrs Tom King's garden at Rectory Farm, Stoke Hammond. In the left background is grandson Derek. Ernest continued with Seth's business until he retired in the late 1930's. Annie kept a small 'front-room' general store with groceries etc at their home; they lived next door to Mr and Mrs T Woolhead and family. They had 2 children (twins) Sidney Charles and Winifred b1903 (pictured together at D3a).

D4: Sidney Denchfield: born 1903, married Edith Cutler (b1900, died 1981); had 2 Children Derek Ernest b July 1926; Gerald Sidney b May 1928 (Picture D4 outside the Dove at the end of High Street) They moved around with work on Farms before joining Buckinghamshire County Council doing contracting work. For a period he also worked for his brother-in-law Thomas King (of rectory Farm, Stoke Hammond). Picture D4a shows Mrs Lucy Cutler (wife of John and the mother of Edith) with *Mrs Ann Culverhouse of Dunstable. Pictures 4b and 4c show Sidney around 1927 on a farm probably at Prebendal Fm Aylesbury (In 4b Sidney has young Derek in his arms)

D5: Derek Denchfield Now lives in Bletchley, married Eileen Mary Thurlow of Fenny Stratford, had 2 children, Janet & Peter. Derek pictured in the arms of his Aunt, Elsie Cutler, outside their house in Aylesbury Road in 1926.

Gerald Sidney Denchfield married Betty Baker pf Woburn, had one child, Paul.
