New for 2002

Wing's new library building with six computers for public use

Open at the begining of November 2002, the new library has computers available for the public as part of the Buckinghamshire People's Network. The library will also play host to the Wing IT tutorial group. Continuing the pioneering work that has made computer technology available to everyone, especially those of all ages who do not know their mouse from their "double click" the group will be offering one - to - one tutorial sessions at daytime and evening sessions. These will replace the sessions held at Cottesloe school for the past 3 years and which have helped many people grasp computer technology and invest in their own personal computers.

What does Community IT mean?

Community IT for Wing village means that local people can have access to computers. They will be able to access the Internet from these computers and use the available software for the following:
  • word processing
  • accounts
  • desktop publishing

It also gives Wing the opportunity to develop a web site, that can include an internet newsletter along with an area for local interest, whether it be activities or points of interest

Training for local people in IT skills will also form an important part of the initiative, with regular training sessions being provided (BCA, In Focus, Spring 1999)
